It was important to Joey and Karen to incorporate their Greek and Chinese cultures into their wedding day. Before the ceremony, they hosted a traditional Chinese tea ceremony for their immediate family. Karen‘s parents used the very same tea set at their wedding.
Karen wore pearl and gemstone necklaces (passed down to her from her grandparents at the tea ceremony) to complement her ivory strapless gown that had a corset back and a champagne sash.
Joey‘s colorful tie and boutonniere, made of spray roses and succulents, popped against his taupe suit and perfectly matched the orange-and-green color scheme.
A simple wrap gave Karen‘s bouquet of orange-hued roses, tulips, calla lilies, and green succulents a fresh-from-the-garden look.
Karen used organic linen to create a ring pillow for each ring bearer. She finished off the look with a sage-colored ribbon.
Orange-printed paper cones filled with biodegradable confetti lined the ceremony aisle, adding an eco-friendly splash of color.
With a view of the gorgeous Santa Ynez Valley, the couple said their "I dos" under a flowering arch of gerbera daisies, hydrangeas, dahlias, stock, and roses.
Handwritten escort cards were embossed with a copper-colored wax seal that featured Karen and Joey‘s monogram.
This eco-conscious couple used the extra paper from their invitations to create their table names. The recycled paper was embedded with flower seeds, which added to the reception‘s garden party charm.
Garden lanterns -- surrounded by large succulents, rose petals, and pebbles -- doubled as centerpieces and lighting for the reception.
Guests took home candle tins topped with Karen and Joey‘s signature copper seal.
The Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse offered panoramic views of the Santa Ynez Valley -- a picture-perfect spot for a sunset photo op.
White umbrellas gave guests some shade while adding to the pleasant garden motif.
At the reception, the Chinese lion dancers‘ performance wowed guests and incorporated Karen‘s culture into the celebration.
Bright, fruity sangria was the perfect thirst-quencher for this warm, May day.
Packed with a lemon curd filling and iced with buttercream frosting, the modern, two-tiered cake matched the sash on Karen‘s gown. Another cake was on-hand for Karen and Joey‘s chocolate-loving guests.
Even though Karen and Joey were both in the middle school band, the two didn't officially meet until one summer while they were home from college -- and it was another two years before they finally shared their first kiss. It must have been worth the wait, because they've been together ever since.

Years later, Joey planned to surprise Karen with a proposal, so he took her horseback riding (one of her favorite activities) along the Santa Barbara bluffs. When they sat down to a picnic lunch, Joey pulled out a ring. Though Karen was laughing with excitement, she managed to answer with a nod.
